New jingle has Chamber of Commerce rockin'

PA -- Thanks to Clint Rishel and his Milton-based band, Triple Dose, The Central Pennsylvania Chamber of Commerce has a new beat.

According to Tabitha Beaver, the Chamber's Communication and Education coordinator, the Chamber had been looking for a new promotional jingle. "We wanted it to be something really vibrant, really exciting, something that really captures everything that this Chamber is about," she said.

The Chamber's main purpose, she said, is to promote and work with area member businesses. Currently there are more than 300 members.

So when Chamber President and CEO Maria Culp and Bruce Smith, membership and marketing director, initially discussed the idea with her, the answer was, "like a light bulb going off," Beaver said.

Over the years she had gotten to know Clint Rishel, Triple Dose front man and lead vocalist, through his participation in the Chamber's annual golf tournament. And although he had never written a jingle before, he was asked to do the assignment.

"I was very honored to be approached," recalled Rishel. "And to be honest, I was surprised that someone was asking me to come up with something original." One thing that surprised the Chamber's staff was the speed at which Rishel accomplished the task. "Basically within the next 20 minutes I had a jingle written," Rishel said.

That night he met with Jason Budman, the band's rhythm guitarist and backing vocalist, who, he said, put music to the lyrics in about 10 minutes.

The Chamber was also amazed at the song's quality: "They (Triple Dose) came back and they had written the lyrics and it was just exact. It was right on," Beaver recounted.

Indeed, the jingle accomplishes its purpose -- it gets into your head and periodically you catch yourself humming a verse:

"Hour by hour and day by day

We're movin' forward,

Yeah,
we're leading the way.

By working together

We can all stand tall

Be part of the future, be a part of it all.
yeah!

 Central PA Chamber of Commerce"

The tune comes alive through the raw power of Rishel's vocals, somewhat reminiscent of John Cougar Meloncamp. It's accented by lead guitarist Cale Derr's crisp, ricochet-fast riffs, seasoned with a touch of country twang. Filling out the sound is the strong back-beat provided by Jason Budman on rhythm guitar and backing vocals, bass guitarist Zach Lenig, and drummer Paul Scharf. And keeping the equipment happy and adjusted is sound technician Aaron Coup, aptly known as Mr. Fixit.

The song was completed over the winter and debuted at the Chamber's Annual Meeting and Awards Ceremony on Feb. 25. According to Beaver, they had given copies of the song to Clear Channel, Sunbury Broadcasting Corporation, and Max Media and it is being played by local radio stations.

Triple Dose October 2008: "It just started out as me and Steve Ulrich, who was my best friend since kindergarten. And he got a drum kit and I got a guitar, and we said, let's get together and start jammin' out," Rishel said.

One thing led to another, and soon other members were added to the line-up. Currently the band is working on a new album titled "Brotherhood," which they hope to release late this year.

Triple Dose is sponsored by the Central PA Chamber of Commerce, Swartz's Ultimate Collision of Winfield, and Todd Reedy of Blaise-Alexander Ford (Lewisburg).

In My Shoes

Posted on 04-09-2010

"In My Shoes" was written in Jason's basement, and is the first song the band wrote together. We are all very passionate about the sacrifices that our soldiers make daily to protect our freedom. With that said, the song talks about the events of 911, and for a brief moment in time our country was united as one. There were no political parties, just a country that said "We are all together, and we stand united against our attackers!"

This song also talks about our soldiers who day in and day out fight for all of us. Lastly, it gives a little nod to the "Big Guy" up above, and we all know one day he is gonna make it right.
